The objective of this pilot study is to establish the capacity of selected TBTC sites to undertake sophisticated bacteriologic studies in the support of TB therapy trials. Although this is described as a pilot study which, if successful, would lead to larger studies involving additional TBTC sites, attainment of the below objectives is believed to be feasible based on expected enrollment into the pilot study and assumptions detailed in the section on sample size calculations.
